Envision Conservatory for the
Humanities
World Affairs Council of San Diego
Envision Conservatory for the Humanities has had a relationship with the World Affairs Council of San Diego since the founding of the Conservatory in 2014.
In 2014, a group of students took it upon themselves to participate in the Orange County World Affairs Council WorldQuest Regional Competition-- and proceeded to win the entire regional competition. The National World Affairs Council decided to let Humanities represent San Diego at the National World Quest Competition so long as we helped establish a regional competition along with the San Diego World Affairs Council and a World Affairs Council Club at Canyon Crest Academy.
So we went to Washington DC to the National Finals-- and took 6th place out of 52 other teams.
Since then, Humanities has won the San Diego Regional competition in 2015, 2017, and 2019. There was no competition in 2020. This year all three Humanities Teams were selected to represent San Diego.
Along with participation in the WorldQuest Competition, ECH and WAC Club of CCA has brought speakers from around the world from every aspect of civic life from Ambassadors to Historians to a Professor in Evolutionary Feminism.
While we were under quarantine, it did not stop us from holding a City wide discussion of the outcome of the Presidential election of 2020. It was going to be called "Election Deconstructed" as time went on, we went with "Campaign Deconstructed". The webinar was held in December of 2020. We invited professors from Yale, USD and former officials from the First Bush Administration and International Business to participate.
